Purpose statement
LifeFlight Australia reached new heights this year, with the addition of new state-of-the-art aircraft and innovative facilities. The facilities include the establishment of two new bases in Mt Isa and the Sunshine Coast, and the inauguration of a new hangar in Roma, signifying the extent of LifeFlight s commitment to improving its services and expanding its reach to those who need them. Throughout the year LifeFlight continued to play a vital role in attending to emergencies ranging from cardiac conditions and falls, to motor vehicle accidents and search and rescues. LifeFlight crew, along with the skilled medical professionals aboard other aircraft, extended a helping hand to an incredible 7,349 individuals. This is almost 40 per cent more than the total number of patients assisted in 2016-17. Behind the scenes, LifeFlight engineers performed more than 41,000 hours of fleet maintenance to keep crews in the air and jet air ambulance teams retrieved 473 people, flying missions up to 35 hours at a time. Overall, since the organisation's first airlift in 1979, more than 81,000 patients have been helped through the delivery of LifeFlight's purpose - to save lives and support the people in Queensland during their time of need. This purpose is at the core of everything we do and continue to do.
