Purpose statement

Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) and LifeFlight have entered into a joint venture to provide enhanced, high-quality healthcare services for Queenslanders we both serve. Both organisations will continue to operate independently of each other, this joint venture allows the entities to formally work together on specific projects with our unique combination of expertise. MediFlite will draw on each organisation s infrastructure and combined 133 years of experience in aeromedical rescue, retrieval and training to provide efficient and high-quality healthcare services across Queensland. RFDS and LifeFlight have worked together informally in the past sharing facilities at Bundaberg and Mount Isa and make use of each other s medical staff on Retrieval Service Queensland coordinated flights when necessary. RFDS and LifeFlight always strive to ensure the highest level of healthcare delivery, and by creating this joint venture we will be able to give the people of Queensland even greater reassurance that when they need emergency medical assistance, we will be there for them. MediFlite directors and executives have been drawn from both organisations. A significant proportion of our funding comes from members of the community and we are committed to maximising the investment they make in us. RFDS and LifeFlight look forward to working on our common mission to save lives and serve communities across Queensland.
