Purpose statement
Established by Clem Jones AO, Ian Brusasco AO AM and David Muir AM in 1995, Foodbank Queensland is the largest hunger relief charity in the state. Foodbank Queensland sources millions of kilograms of food from farmers, manufacturers and retailers every year, and distributes this food to over 300 food relief charities and over 400 school breakfast programs to help Queenslanders in need. Foodbank s food rescue operations also actively reduce food landfill and CO2-e emissions, positively impacting our environment. Every single day, Queenslanders are going hungry. For many, it only takes an emergency bill for necessities such as health care, home repayments or car, that results in going hungry. No matter who we are or where we come from, sometimes life gets tough. Food stress and hunger negatively impact our physical and mental health. That s why we believe every Queenslander deserves access to good quality food all year round.
